Same-day, at the same flat price

A lot of companies charge more for the rush. We don't: when a slot is open, same-day pickup costs the same flat price as any other day. Send a photo of what needs to go and we quote the soonest window across the District, close-in Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Whether it's a single sofa, a mattress, an appliance, or a whole apartment or basement during a move, we move fast — loaded, out, and disposed of responsibly, usable pieces donated. (DC adds sales tax; MD and VA don't tax the service.)

What a same-day pickup actually looks like

1 · Photo in

One picture of the sofa, the mattress, the pile in the hallway. No walkthrough, no "call for a quote," no waiting for a rep to drive out to your address.

2 · Flat quote back in seconds

An exact number, not a range, and it doesn't change when the crew arrives. Same-day and next-week are quoted identically.

3 · Pick the soonest window

You see what's genuinely open today. If today is full, we say so plainly and give you the next real slot instead of a maybe.

4 · The crew carries it out

Insured, vetted haulers come to the room it's in — third-floor walk-up, English basement, high-rise unit — and take it from there. Disposal is included.

The honest caveat

Same-day depends on an open slot on that day's route. Mornings go first; May move-out Saturdays go fastest. Ask early and you'll usually get it.

The other honest caveat

If your building needs a COI, that's 48–72 hours no matter who you hire. Start it now and the pickup itself will be quick.

How much is same-day junk removal in DC?

Exactly what it costs on a Tuesday three weeks out. There is no same-day, rush, urgent or expedite charge anywhere in our DC price list — not hidden in a fee, not applied at checkout. Here's the ladder, single items first:

ItemFlat price — today or any day
TV — medium$91
Queen mattress$139
Treadmill$155
Dresser$169
Sofa / couch$170
Refrigerator$221

$75 order minimum. Adding a second and third item to the same pickup is always cheaper than booking two visits — one arrival, one flat number.

Clearing a whole unit before a deadline? That prices as truck-fill, on all seven tiers, same-day or not:

Truck-fillFlat price
2/8 truck$325
3/8 truck$455
4/8 truck (half)$580
5/8 truck$690
6/8 truck$790
7/8 truck$890
Full truck (8/8)$985

Loading, stair-carry, sweep-out and disposal included in every tier. DC sales tax shows at checkout in the District; Maryland and Virginia don't tax the service.

Worth knowing what "same-day" costs elsewhere: HomeGuide's 2026 junk-removal cost research puts 1-800-GOT-JUNK and College HUNKS at roughly a $100–$150 minimum up to $700–$1,000 for a full truck — and both require an on-site estimate before the number is firm. Urgency is exactly when you least want to negotiate a price with a crew already parked outside.

Does DC do same-day bulk pickup?

No — and this is the whole reason this page exists. DC DPW bulk trash is an appointment you schedule through 311 or dpw.dc.gov, not a same-day service. You request a collection, you're given a date, and you put your items at the curb the night before that date. It's a fine program on a normal week. It is useless on the week you actually need it.

And it's narrower than most people realize. Bulk trash serves single-family homes and buildings of three units or fewer. It caps each appointment at seven items. It refuses renovation and construction debris. And condos, co-ops and apartment buildings of four units or more are excluded entirely — those residents are required to hire a private, licensed hauler. If you rent in a Navy Yard tower, own in a NoMa building, or live in a converted rowhouse with four flats, the free program was never available to you on any timeline, let alone today's.

The suburbs work the same way with different calendars: Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County each run their own scheduled or on-call bulk programs with item caps and exclusions. Every one of them is booked in advance and collected at the curb.

So here's the plain version: if your lease ends Saturday, none of them help. Not one municipal program in this metro is designed to come today, and not one of them will come inside your unit to get the thing. That gap — urgent, and inside the building — is precisely what we do, at the same price we'd charge if you'd called a month ago.

What we'll take today

What happens to it the same afternoon

Speed doesn't change where things go. Usable furniture and household goods still get routed to donation partners — Goodwill of Greater Washington, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore and A Wider Circle in Silver Spring — when they're clean and complete enough to be accepted. Metal goes to scrap. Electronics route to the county e-waste programs rather than the landfill. And anything with refrigerant in it — that same-day fridge, freezer or window AC — gets EPA-certified freon recovery before disposal, which is a legal requirement and is already inside your flat price. What's genuinely waste tips at the regional transfer stations on the Maryland and Virginia sides.

Walk-ups, high-rises, and the COI you should start now

No curb-drag. Every free program in this region assumes you've already carried the thing outside; we do the opposite and come to the room it's in. In the Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, U Street and Columbia Heights walk-ups — four-story rowhouse conversions with no elevator and a turn at every landing — that's the entire value of the service, and there's no stair fee for it.

In the high-rise belt there's one honest limit on speed. Navy Yard, NoMa, Rosslyn, Ballston and Tysons buildings almost always require a certificate of insurance filed 48–72 hours ahead, naming the management company as additional insured, plus a reserved freight-elevator or loading-dock window. That lead time belongs to the building, not to us, and no hauler can compress it. So if you live in one of those towers and your move-out is Saturday: start the COI now. Send us the management company's name today, we file it today, and the pickup itself takes an hour.

Everywhere else — the rowhouse blocks, Bethesda and Silver Spring driveways, Arlington and Alexandria single-family streets — same-day is genuinely just a matter of an open slot.

Same-day questions, answered

Do you charge extra for same-day?

No. There's no rush line item at all. Sofa $170, queen mattress $139, dresser $169, treadmill $155, medium TV $91, fridge $221; truck-fill $325–$985. Same today as any day. $75 minimum.

How fast can you come?

The price is instant; the schedule is the real constraint. Same-day works when a slot is open on that day's route — common, but not guaranteed. If it's full we tell you straight away.

Does DC bulk trash do same-day?

No — it's a scheduled appointment through 311 / dpw.dc.gov, capped at 7 items, single-family and ≤3-unit buildings only, no renovation debris, and closed to condos, co-ops and 4+ unit buildings. MD and VA county programs are scheduled too.

Do I drag it to the curb?

Never. We carry it out of the unit — walk-ups in Dupont, Adams Morgan, U Street and Columbia Heights included, with no stair fee.

My building needs a COI — can you come today?

The COI can't be same-day; buildings in Navy Yard, NoMa, Rosslyn, Ballston and Tysons want it 48–72 hours ahead. Send the management company's name now and we'll file it today.

Cheaper than a franchise's same-day?

HomeGuide's 2026 research puts 1-800-GOT-JUNK and College HUNKS at roughly a $100–$150 minimum to $700–$1,000 full truck — after an on-site estimate. Ours is quoted from a photo before you book.

Can you empty a whole apartment today?

Yes when a slot's open — the same seven truck-fill tiers, $325 to $985, with loading, stair-carry and disposal included.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge extra for same-day junk removal in DC?

No. There is no same-day, rush, urgent or expedite line item anywhere in our DC price list — the same-day price is simply the standard price. A sofa is $170 whether we take it this afternoon or next Thursday, a queen mattress $139, a dresser $169, a treadmill $155, a medium TV $91, a refrigerator $221. Truck-fills run $325 to $985 on the same seven tiers every day of the week. The order minimum is $75.

How fast can you actually come?

Send a photo and the flat price comes back in seconds; the honest constraint is scheduling, not pricing. Same-day works when there is an open slot on a crew's route that day, which is common but not guaranteed — mornings book out first, and Saturdays in May go fastest. If today is full we will tell you straight away and give you the soonest real window rather than a maybe.

Does DC bulk trash do same-day pickup?

No. DC DPW bulk trash is an appointment you schedule through 311 or dpw.dc.gov, not a same-day service. It serves single-family homes and buildings of three units or fewer, caps each appointment at seven items, refuses renovation and construction debris, and excludes condos, co-ops and apartment buildings of four or more units entirely — those residents must hire a private licensed hauler. Montgomery, Prince George's, Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax bulk programs are likewise scheduled and capped. If your lease ends Saturday, none of them help.

Do I have to drag it to the curb?

No — the crew carries it out from wherever it is. That is the real difference between us and every free municipal program in this region, all of which are curbside by design. Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, U Street and Columbia Heights walk-ups with no elevator are routine for us, and there is no stair fee.

My building needs a COI — can you still come today?

This is the one thing that genuinely cannot be same-day, and we would rather say so than waste your afternoon. Navy Yard, NoMa, Rosslyn, Ballston and Tysons buildings typically require a certificate of insurance filed 48 to 72 hours ahead naming the management company, plus a reserved freight-elevator window. Send us the management company's name now and we will start the COI today so the pickup can happen as soon as the building clears it.

Is same-day cheaper than 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

Both 1-800-GOT-JUNK and College HUNKS market same-day or next-day service, but both require an on-site estimate before you have a price — so the number is not firm until a crew is standing in your living room, which is a poor position to be in the day before a move. HomeGuide's 2026 cost research puts them at roughly a $100 to $150 minimum up to $700 to $1,000 for a full truck. Ours is a flat number from a photo in seconds, with no rush premium attached.

Can you clear a whole apartment today?

Yes, if a slot is open. Whole-unit jobs price on the same truck-fill ladder as any other day — 2/8 $325, 3/8 $455, 4/8 $580, 5/8 $690, 6/8 $790, 7/8 $890, full truck $985 — with loading, stair-carry, sweep-out and disposal included. Send photos of each room and you get one number.

Do you take a mattress the delivery crew refused?

Yes, and it is one of the most common same-day calls we get. A queen mattress is $139, a full $126, a twin $111, a king $154, and a box spring $124. It goes out of the bedroom, down the stairs, and into the truck the same day when there is a slot.
