1. One-paragraph summary
JunkRabbit Washington DC is a junk removal service for the District and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs, built for rowhouses, English basements and condo buildings. A Capitol Hill rowhouse, an English basement in Shaw, a Navy Yard condo and a house in Arlington or Bethesda all get the same flat per-item price, carried out from inside. Customers pick items or upload a photo and see an itemized total before booking, with no call needed. Vetted, insured local haulers work 7 days a week from 8am to midnight, with same-day pickup when booked by 4 PM. A standard sofa is $126, a queen mattress $103 and a full truck $732.
2. What JunkRabbit is built for in Washington DC
Rowhouses and English basements
DC's rowhouses mean narrow stairs, second-floor bedrooms and English basements with low ceilings and tight entries. Every collection program starts at the curb or the alley; a JunkRabbit pickup includes the carry from any floor at no stairs fee. See basement cleanouts in DC.
Condo buildings on private contracts
Many DC condo and apartment buildings use private haulers rather than city collection, and their managing agents expect a certificate of insurance and a booked service elevator. JunkRabbit emails a free COI within 1 hour of booking. See condo junk removal.
Three jurisdictions
DC, Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland, and Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax in Virginia each set their own rules, and towns like Takoma Park and Rockville add their own. A pickup from inside works the same everywhere.
Academic-year move-outs
Leases around Georgetown, GW, Howard, American and Catholic universities turn over at the end of the academic year. Same-day pickup when booked by 4 PM covers last-minute moves.

6. How a pickup works
- See the price. Pick items or upload a photo at dc.getjunkrabbit.com. The total appears on screen, with no call and no phone number needed to see it.
- Book. Choose an arrival window, any day 8am to midnight, and add a card. Same-day is available if booked by 4 PM.
- (If needed) COI. Add the managing agent at checkout; the certificate goes out within 1 hour.
- Pickup. A vetted, insured local hauler comes inside, takes items from any floor, disassembles if needed and carries everything out. You get text updates on the day.
- Price check. If there are extra items that weren't in the booking, the crew shows the updated price and waits for your approval before loading them.
- Disposal. We try to donate usable items when local charities accept them and recycle whatever we can; refrigerants are recovered from fridges and AC units.
7. vs DC-area bulk collection
In DC, furniture can go out only with a scheduled collection behind it, for an item the program accepts, at the place and on the day it specifies; otherwise it's dumping, and the notice goes to the owner or tenant of record. On many rowhouse blocks the designated point is the alley, which is still public space. Maryland and Virginia jurisdictions set their own rules. Refrigerant appliances, electronics, construction debris and household hazardous material are refused across the region, and no program comes inside. Check your own address's current page.
If your address has a scheduled collection that fits your items, use it. JunkRabbit is for everything else: items on upper floors or in an English basement, condo buildings on private contracts, excluded categories, and dates that don't line up with a move. See DC bulk trash vs paid junk removal.
8. vs national operators
National franchises such as 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King typically quote by truck volume and confirm the final price once the crew sees the job. JunkRabbit publishes a flat price for each item online, so the total is known before booking, and the job is done by a vetted, insured local hauler. There is no stairs fee and no same-day surcharge. See JunkRabbit vs 1-800-GOT-JUNK in Washington DC for a side-by-side.

What are your hours? Do you work weekends?
JunkRabbit works 7 days a week, 8am to midnight, weekends included. Same-day pickup is available when you book by 4 PM.
Can I see a price without calling or giving my phone number?
Yes. Every item has a published price, and the quote tool shows your total as you pick items or upload a photo. We ask for a mobile number only when you continue to book.
Will the price change when the crew arrives?
No surprise charges. The price is set when you book and only changes if you approve it, for example if there are extra items that weren't in the booking.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance (COI) for my building?
Yes, free. Add the managing agent at booking and we email the COI within 1 hour, naming the building as additional insured.
Do you work with property managers and landlords?
Yes. Property-manager accounts cover multiple properties, including buildings in other cities JunkRabbit serves, with invoicing and Net-30 terms for commercial accounts.
Do you take paint or hazardous materials?
We take paint ($30 a gallon can, $52 a 5-gallon bucket). We don't take hazardous materials as standard, but can sometimes help case by case, so send a photo and ask before booking.
Can I leave furniture in the alley behind my DC rowhouse?
Only for a scheduled collection, for an accepted item, on the specified day. The alley is public space, and anything left outside the rules brings a notice to the owner or tenant of record. A JunkRabbit pickup collects from inside instead.
Can you get furniture out of an English basement?
Yes. Crews handle low ceilings and tight basement entries, disassembling where needed, at the same flat price as any other floor.
Do you serve Arlington, Alexandria and Bethesda?
Yes. JunkRabbit Washington DC covers Arlington, Old Town Alexandria, McLean, Tysons, Falls Church, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Takoma Park and Rockville at the same flat prices as the District.
